Phosphorus is one of the essential elements known as greater to be required in greater quantity by the crops. TERRAMAG (P) (Standard) contains 11.5% of P2O5 and a portion of this phosphorus is assimilable because it comes from acidulated phosphoric rock. TERRAMAG (P) (Standard) contains 6.5% S and all sulfur is available as sulfate ion from acidification. The acid causes magnesium sulfate, calcium phosphate and magnesium phosphate to be formed. These facts make that:

• The pH of the soil decreases.

Magnesium (Mg) plays a very important role in the metabolism of plants, as it is the central atom of the green leaf pigment (chlorophyll) responsible for photosynthesis, and also fulfills functions such as:

Activator of breathing metabolism.
Generator of certain enzymes.
Participates in the synthesis and accumulation of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
Intervenes in the transport of phosphates.

Mg is a moving element within the plant and is absorbed from the soil as the Mg2 + cation. For this reason no amendments should be applied with only calcium but must also contain magnesium.

The magnesium phosphate produced has the advantage of being insoluble in water and therefore prevents losses by leaching and phosphorus fixation in the soil, but at the same time it is assimilable because it is soluble in citric acid.

Silicon is not an essential element for plants but its action is recognized by increasing defenses and resistance to withstand conditions of biotic or abiotic stress and to strengthen the structure of leaves and stems. The silicic acid formed Si (OH) 4 helps to protect the phosphorus and reduces its insolubilization, besides adsorbing water retaining it for the summer times.
